About NMCC

Introduction:

The New Moon is a powerful time of new beginnings, transformation, and unseen potential. Those with a cancer diagnosis face a very challenging time, where nothing seems what it once was. Like the New Moon growing in its perceived light and power, I hope to offer the guidance, tools and support to nurture one’s own healing potential, and watch the light grow while the unwanted/unneeded fades away.

Mission Statement:

To provide those affected by cancer with comprehensive and wholistic care as an alternative to, or adjuvant for, conventional cancer treatment.

Vision:

The vision is to empower people, as they realize and manifest their own healing capabilities, with compassionate guidance and loving support.

Patients Served:

NMCC offers naturopathic medicine and energy work to facilitate wholistic wellness within those affected by cancer.  With a teamwork-based approach, the aim is to address not only the physical body but the mental, emotional and spiritual planes, as appropriate, based on individualized needs and desires. This allows for a deeper healing to occur.  New Moon Cancer Care is right for you if any of the following are true:

-You have a current cancer diagnosis, are in remission looking to prevent recurrence, or are an “at-risk” individual looking to prevent occurrence in the first place

-Are undergoing conventional care and looking to treat the side effects (palliative care)

-Are undergoing conventional care and looking to increase its effectiveness (complementary/integrative care)

-Are undergoing conventional care and looking to increase your foundations of health, support the body, mind, spirit through the treatment (complementary/integrative care)

-Refuse to undergo conventional care completely or partially (alternative care)

-Have friends and family that are interested in energy work; the support system needs to be taken care of too!

Services Offered:

Naturopathic services offered include dietary guidance, exercise regimens, mind body medicine technique suggestions (such as meditation, visualizations) and other lifestyle modifications, botanical medicine, homeopathy and nutritional supplementation. I offer referrals for other helpful modalities such as acupuncture/Chinese Medicine, lymphatic massage, intravenous therapy, counseling and other mental/emotional health help, hypnotherapy, hydrotherapy, recommended labs and imaging, shamanism, global ceremony and other spiritual healing. In addition, I offer Reiki, tuning fork treatment and ritual healing with more modalities coming soon! Treatment plans can be “coordinated care” with your other health professionals or stand alone if you so choose. They may help alleviate side effects of conventional treatment, increase the efficacy of conventional treatment, or be used in place of conventional treatment if you choose to decline conventional treatment. I offer a team-based approach with compassionate heart, open ears, open mind and a steadfast spirit.

Dr. Lisa’s Philosophy:

New Moon Cancer Care provides those affected by cancer (current diagnosis, in remission, high risk looking to prevent) with a way toward true wholistic wellness.  I am a Naturopathic Physician and Energy Worker, but I do not heal the patient.  I am a facilitator.  This is a team effort.  Studies show that cancer patients have a higher likelihood of survival when they feel a sense of control, when they listen to their intuition regarding treatment, choose to undergo a treatment that they believe in, and play an active role in it.  The end goal at NMCC is to devise an individualized treatment plan that resonates with each unique patient.  My aim is to address not only the physical body but the mental, emotional, ethereal and spiritual planes, as appropriate, based on these individualized needs and desires.  For those choosing radiation, chemotherapy, and/or immunotherapy, I offer treatments for the side effects of these treatments.  I also can work together with the oncologist to potentially increase effectiveness of these conventional treatments, by offering synergistic complements.  All of this increases quality of life, patient compliance, and therefore can improve patient outcomes. For those who feel that conventional treatment is not something that they are willing to do, I offer alternatives.  In either case, I believe (and I am not alone) that for a deep healing to occur with any dis-ease state, we need to dive deep within ourselves and do the inner work. “Everyone who is seriously interested in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe.”        –Albert Einstein

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic Medicine abides by its 6 tenets:

  1. First, Do No Harm
  2. Prevention
  3. Treat the Root Cause
  4. The Healing Power of Nature
  5. Doctor As Teacher
  6. Treat the Whole Person

Those with a Naturopathic Doctorate (ND) from an accredited university have learned how to be a primary care provider on par with a Medical Doctor (MD), although are only recognized as doctors in 20 states and 3 US districts and territories. In Oregon, ND’s can diagnose clinically and with laboratory measures, prescribe pharmaceuticals, perform minor surgery, utilize intravenous and injection therapy, nutritional therapies, botanical medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative technique), public health measures, hygiene and counseling. Those with further training can also do childbirth and acupuncture[1]. For more details, check out Naturopathic Medicine: 100 Frequently Asked Questions.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing modality that came to us from Japan. The word Reiki comes from 2 Japanese words; Rei is divine energy and ki is personal energy. With Reiki, there is a transfer of energy from the Divine/Universe/Source/God/Life Force/Light Beings/wherever you believe it comes from, through the practitioner (not originating from the practitioner), and to the person in need of healing. It is important to note that this modality is not officially recognized as naturopathic medicine, it is classified as energy medicine and is often offered by energy workers and spiritual healers. Still, I must legally disclose that a Reiki session is not intended to diagnose or cure any medical or psychological condition, impairment or disease.

This energy medicine may feel relaxing, may release strong and potentially turbulent emotions that need to surface, or may feel like nothing at all. The intent of Reiki is always for the greatest and highest good.

What is tuning fork treatment?

There are many types of tuning forks and even more ways of working with their frequencies. I utilize the SomaEnergetics System of tuning forks and am currently offering work with the energy tuners based on these ancient divine frequencies. It is indisputable that sound affects matter, as everything can be deduced to subtle energy fields. Tuning forks work with this principle, affecting the aura or etheric energy bodies directly and attempting to re-pattern any distortions, clear blockages, or calm hyperactive areas. It is important to note that this modality is not officially recognized as naturopathic medicine, it is classified as energy medicine and is often offered by energy workers and spiritual healers. Still, I must legally disclose that these forks are not intended to diagnose or cure any medical or psychological condition, impairment or disease. They are intended for the rejuvenation and alignment of one’s mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, which may affect the physical as well.
